Naloxone Training

Because everyone knows someone.

SCROLL DOWN

Naloxone Training

Because everyone knows someone.

Learn how to reverse an overdose with a naloxone rescue kit (also known as Narcan).

Naloxone is an easy-to-use antidote to reverse heroin and other opioid overdoses. It has been used in hospitals for decades and can be administered with basic training.

Rockland Connects holds regular naloxone trainings at local community centers. Check our calendar for upcoming trainings.

Contact us to schedule a naloxone training for your workplace or staff.

HIV Prevention

Protect yourself and put your health first.

Rockland County has the 7th highest rate of newly diagnosed cases in New York State (excluding NYC). It is important to open up conversations about protecting ourselves and staying safe.

PrEP/PEP Services

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is like "birth control" for HIV, and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is like "Plan B" for HIV. Both medications are incredibly effective in preventing the spread of HIV and Rockland Connects will help you get enrolled in these services.

Harm Reduction Supplies

Prolonging health, providing support, and building a bridge to recovery.

Individuals who inject drugs are at high risk of HIV, hepatitis C and soft-tissue infections from the sharing and reuse of injection equipment. We advocate for the increase in access to sterile injection equipment for those who use drugs as a means to prevent the spread of viral and bacterial infections.

COMING SOON: ROCKLAND CONNECTS SYRINGE EXCHANGE PROGRAM

In 2018, Rockland Connects will be expanding it's services with the launch of Rockland's first syringe exchange program. Rockland Connect's Syringe Exchange Program will provide individuals with all of the tools needed to be safe, for free: hypodermic needles, bleach kits, disposal services, risk reduction education, and referral services. Most importantly, this program will serve as a bridge to recovery and substance abuse treatment.

Did you know? Studies show that participants of syringe exchange programs are 5 times more likely to enter recovery, and show higher drug treatment retention rates than non-participants.

These educational events are geared towards increasing awareness around opioid addiction and discussing the role that harm reduction has played in addressing the harms of opioid use. Rockland Connects invites addiction treatment providers, individuals in recovery, and the family members of those living with addiction to share their experiences and advice
